Indians pitcher Salazar out with right forearm strain

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Danny Salazar will miss the next three to four weeks with a strain to his right flexor musculature, the team announced.

The injury will likely keep Salazar out for the remainder of the regular season and possibly for the first round of the postseason.

Salazar is 11-6 with a 3.87 ERA and 161 strikeouts this season, but he has struggled since the beginning of July, having allowed 36 earned runs in 10 starts during that time.

The Indians remain a healthy seven games ahead of the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central.

However, the two teams play each other later this week, then again at the end of the month.

Cleveland have dominated Detroit this season, but anything can happen with a playoff spot on the line.
