Karin Knapp to meet Roberta Vinci in final
Karin Knapp cruised into the third WTA final of her career with a straight-sets victory over Spain's Lara Arruabarrena at the Nurnberger Versicherungscup.
The world number 48 quickly disposed of Arruabarrena on Friday to set up a meeting with her Italian Fed Cup team-mate Roberta Vinci ahead of the French Open.
Knapp was dominant from the outset and barely gave her opponent a look in as she raced through the opening set, taking every game in half an hour.
Having won eight games on the trot, Knapp finally allowed Arruabarrena on the board, but the respite was only brief as the Italian took the final four games to wrap up a comprehensive 6-0 6-2 win.
She will meet fourth seed Vinci in Saturday's final after the 32-year-old was gifted her place in the showpiece by Angelique Kerber, the German withdrawing before the match due to a back problem.
It will be the fifth meeting on tour between the two Italians, with Knapp holding a slight advantage with three wins, including a second-round victory in Marrakech earlier this year.
