NPFL Review: Rivers United pick point in Uyo, Plateau United stumble in title race
Meanwhile, Plateau United failed to take advantage on Sunday as they suffered their first defeat in 12 league games.
However, it was an easy ride for all the home teams bar Akwa United as they all cruised to wins over their respective opponents.
Here's a look at how it went down on the match day.
Akwa United 1-1 Rivers United
The Pride of Rivers showed their mental strength once more to begin the second stanza with a point on the road.
Mathew Etim put the ball into his own net to gift Stanley Eguma's side the lead going into the break. Just two minutes after the restart, the hosts found their equaliser through debutant Adeyeye Adeyemi.
Efforts to find the winner by Deji Ayeni's men were thwarted by Sochima Victor and his defence as the visitors went away with a point from the Nest of Champions.
Kwara United 2-1 Remo Stars
The Harmony boys came from a goal down to beat the Ikenne side at the Kwara Sports Complex on Sunday.
It was a cagey half hour until Haruna Hadi, in his first start for the Sky Blues Stars, shocked the home side to put the visitors in front. Just on the stroke of halftime, Kwara United found a response when Kabiru Balogun headed home the equaliser.
From there on, it became a ding-dong affair with both sides going in search of the winning goal. It was Abdullahi Biffo's men who eventually found the winner with fifteen minutes to go when Balogun's cross was turned home by Samad Kadiri.
The win sent Kwara United above Remo Stars, who dropped to fifth, on the league standings.
Other results include;
Kano Pillars suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Gombe United courtesy Barnabas Daniel's second half penalty. Jonas Emmanuel's spectacular goal handed Niger Tornadoes all three points against Dakkada in Kaduna.

In Makurdi, Mohammed Baba Ganaru's return to management in the topflight ended on a sweet note. Raphael Ayagwa and Godfrey Utin scored to inflict just the second defeat in ten away games on the Flying Antelopes.
At their newly adopted homeground, Nasarawa United avenged their defeat in Ibadan about two weeks ago as Adamu Hassan and Shammasu Mohammed scored in the second half to send Shooting Stars back to their base empty handed.
