Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham left the Hall of Fame game early on Sunday, adding injury to the insult that was their 14-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Suisham limped from the field following the opening kick-off of the second half in Canton, Ohio with a suspected knee injury, having registered what turned out to be the Steelers' only points of the contest with a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Mike Kafka threw one touchdown pass for the victorious Vikings, while Joe Banyard rushed for another as Minnesota claimed the NFL pre-season's traditional opener.

Steelers playmaker Landry Jones had 16 completed passes from 32 attempts for 135 yards, while the Vikings quarterbacks shared the load - Kafka, Taylor Heinicke and Teddy Bridgewater all enjoying some time directing traffic.

Kafka's 34-yard pass to MyCole Pruitt put the Vikings on the scoreboard and in the lead, before Banyard's one-yard run added another six-pointer - and Blair Walsh was two-from-two with the extra points.

Walsh, however, did miss a 48-yard field goal attempt wide right.
