Late SurveyMonkey CEO's wife and Facebook COO goes back to work

There was a moment of silence on Monday at Facebook’s Hacker Square in honor of David Goldberg,the well-liked Silicon Valley entrepreneur and husband of Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, who passed away 12 days ago while on vacation in Mexico.

After that, his wife will be transitioning back to work, a spokesman for Facebook said, after a large memorial service at Stanford University as well as a week of shiva for her and her family to hono her husband.

However, she will be operating on a slightly different schedule, with plans to be in the office when her two young children are at school and to suspend all travel for work for the foreseeable future.

Sandberg decided to return to Facebook instead of taking a leave on the advice of child psychologists who suggested that kids often get over the loss of a parental figure quicker by getting back to typical routines quickly.

Although personal situations vary, Sandberg will operate in this modified schedule, with the help of CEO and Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. The two of them have one of the more successful partnerships in Silicon Valley.

SurveyMonkey, the online survey company where the Facebook COO’s husband, Goldberg, was CEO have moved to quickly bolster their leadership. It named GoPro executive Zander Lurie as temporary executive chairman as it searches for another leader internally and externally.
