Manchester United forward, Memphis Depay and striker Robin van Persie clashed while in camp with their Netherlands national team.
Holland manager Danny Blind confirmed that the two players clashed during training ahead of Saturday's crucial victory against Kazakhstan.
Van Persie was left out of the starting 11 that won against Kazakhstan and Blind debunked reports that the striker’s omission was because of his clash with Depay.
The coach claimed that Van Persie was dropped because of his level of fitness.
“We have discussed what happened, but that had nothing to do with my decision,” Blind is quoted as saying in The Guardian.
“It was a discussion during training about a ball that should have been given over. Things like that happen often.
“There are sometimes situations in training where players think differently. That's what happened and then it was over.
“I felt that he was not fit enough to start. I think that's down to the fact that he has not played without pain for quite a while.”
