They became the first team in the competition's history to win game seven - the last possible match in a play-off series - on three occasions, all on the road, to reach the final.

It made for a special triumph and delirious celebrations followed on Monday as Kings fans rejoiced in their second title in three years.

"We're starting to become a hockey town," captain Dustin Brown told the NHL's official website at the parade.

Kings president of business operations, Luc Robitaille, was blown away by the scenes of joy.

"The parade was very special last time (in 2012) and I think today was even more special," he said.

"It seemed bigger. When we turned that last corner, it was unbelievable.

"It was overwhelming. It's pretty special for those players."

Right wing Justin Williams added that the season was hugely taxing but that he was elated to finish as champions.

"It (this season) was an emotional, exhausting ride," he said.
