As strange as it may seem, two penguins are celebrating their 10th year together as a gay couple.

Dotty and Zee, as they are known, are two Humboldt penguins that reside at Bremerhaven Zoo in Germany.

According to the reports, the pair has been inseparable for a decade, and at first, the zoo did not realise that the penguins were both male.

After a few years, the zoo became curious as to why the pair were yet to start a family and a DNA test gave them the answers.

Shockingly, Dotty and Zee are not the only gay penguins in the zoo. Of the 10 penguin pairs in the zoo, three are gay.

A vet at Bremerhaven told Animal Planet,

"This is one of the most endangered species we have in the world we have maybe only 2000 of the species left.

”The three gay couples stayed together showing us that they are really strong relationships,” the vet added.

Every year, Dotty and Zee have reportedly built a nest, a sign that the keepers believe is proof that they wanted a family.

Luckily for the pair, they were given an egg which was rejected by its mother and the penguins worked together to incubate the egg and shared the responsibilities for feeding and providing everything necessary for the baby.

Gay animals are something but a gay animal couple with a baby is definitely a sight for sore eyes.
