CW has announced that the upcoming 4th season of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ will be the last for show.

Created by Sherri Cooper-Landsman and Jennifer Levin, the show  is loosely based on Ron Koslow’s 1987 CBS series, which starred Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman.

The recently cancelled remake stars Kristin Kreuk as an NYPD office, investigating her mother’s death.

The show stars her alongside  Jay Ryan, who features as a former soldier with whom she gets romantically involved with.

'Beauty and the Beast' received an early renewal for Season 4 this year, despite not performing particularly well in the ratings.

Season one of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ averaged 1.61 million total viewers during its 22-episode run, while its 3 season averaged 879,000 total viewers.

A premiere date for the upcoming season four, which is expected to premiere in 2016,  is yet to be announced.
