Legendary Nigerian singer, Ebenezer Obey, has addressed and dismissed swirling rumours about his death, assuring fans and well-wishers that he is very much alive and in good health.
The 82-year-old music icon took to Instagram to clear the air after false reports circulated on social media suggesting that he had passed away. In the video, Obey called the rumours “fake news” and urged the public not to believe such misleading claims.
It is fake news that started a few hours ago, saying that I passed on to glory. It is a pure lie, I am alive because that is not what Jesus has written about me. What Jesus has written about me is only what would manifest upon my life.
I'm alive and don't believe any fake news, I am alive and I dey kampe. My time is not up yet . Thank you to all the people who have been calling to check in on me , I’m alive.
Unfortunately, Obey is far from the only victim of these false reports in the Nigerian entertainment industry. These misleading claims often only stir up unnecessary panic among fans and fellow celebrities, as well as confusion for those concerned. Celebrities like Olu Jacobs, Ngozi Ezenu , Zack Orji, Tony Umez and even Parience Ozokwo, have falsely been reported dead on social media. In a similar manner, they also came out to refute the false reports.
