Sunday Oliseh not the cause of striker's resignation from national team
Coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh has revealed that he is not the reason striker, Emmanuel Emenike resigned form the national team.
The striker who was top scorer when Nigeria won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 has announced his decision to quit the Super Eagles.
“No more Eagles career! After five great years, I am happy to announce that I have put full-stop to my national team career for the sake of national peace," Emenike announced on Instagram.
Emenike is the second player to quit the national team after former Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama who chose to retire from the team after clashing with Oliseh.
Many had blamed the coach for Emenike's retirement, but the Oliseh has denied claims that he also fell out with the striker.
Speaking with ace Nigerian sports journalist, Colin Udoh, Oliseh even blasted reports that emerged earlier that he was set to drop the striker from Nigeria's 2018 World Cup qualifiers in November.
"I don't know where they got that information from, as my coaches and I had not even discussed the ," Oliseh told Udoh.
"Our focus for now has been on the CHAN qualifiers against Burkina Faso. It is only after that is out of the way that we planned to decide on the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland."
