'Happy' Ndidi worth more than £50m - Rodgers puts suitors of Super Eagles star on alert

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has informed clubs who want Wilfred Ndidi that it will take more than 50m to take him away from the Foxes.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles midfielder has been a subject of intense speculation with reports from England linking him with a move away from the King Power.

Aston Villa are the latest to be linked with the world-class midfielder following reports that their new manager, Steven Gerrard, is a huge admirer of the Leicester star.

Gerrard has sanctioned a move for the Super Eagles defensive midfielders with the Villians planning a £50m bid for him this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Leicester manager, Rodgers, reacted to the report after he was asked during his Europa Conference League press conference on Wednesday.

"He's worth much more than that," Rodgers stated emphatically after he was told Villa have lined up a £50m bid.

Rodgers added that players like Ndidi will always attract interest from other clubs but hopes his Nigerian star will stay at club for a long time.

"A player of that quality and mentality, of course you want to always keep, but when you have that player, he will always attract interest," Rodgers added.

"But he seems very settled here. I know he's moved into a new house and he seems very, very happy. He's a pleasure to work with and hopefully he can be around the club for many years."

Ndidi, who is contracted to the Foxes until the summer of 2024, was also at the press conference and corroborated his manager's thought, with the talented midfielder fully settled at the club.

"At the moment I am enjoying myself in Leicester.

"My family is here. My business degree was on hold because at the time it was during lockdown, and then my daughter (was born). But I'm looking forward to it maybe next year."

Ndidi has been a constant feature for Leicester this season and will hope to help the Foxes continue their hunt for European glory when they take on Borussia Dortmund later on Thursday in the Europa Conference League.
