Allan Donald wants long-term Australia job

The legendary former South Africa quick will work with the Australia bowlers in Sri Lanka after Craig McDermott stepped down following the World Twenty20 in India.

And Donald would relish the opportunity to remain part of Darren Lehmann's staff on a permanent basis.

"There's no question about it ... I'd love to work with Boof [Lehmann] and his team without a shadow of a doubt," Donald told cricket.com.au.

"At the moment it's just an opportunity for me to come in and spend some in the Australian culture.

"I know what the Australian culture has been for so long and I've enjoyed it as a cricketer. So being part of that now is something very special for me and very humbling.

"If it does happen to be a long-term thing then I would absolutely love to do that.

"We'll take it small steps at a time and see how that goes."

Australia start a three-match Test series against Sri Lanka on July 26 before contesting a five-game one-day international series and two T20s.
