With the Super Eagles seeded in Pot 4, the draw will hold on Friday, December 1 in Russia.
Ahead of the draw, anxious Onyekuru is hoping the Super Eagles of Nigeria will get an easy draw.
“Everyone is excited that the World Cup draw is around the corner and I pray that we get an easy group,” the Anderlecht star (on-loan from Everton) told Complete Sports.
“All the other countries will be praying for same too, but I hope the god of soccer will smile on us.
“Personally I’m waiting eagerly for the ceremony on Friday. It’s going to be massive and I’m praying we don’t get hooked up with a difficult group.”
Flight to Russia not certain yet
Onyekuru is among the players who are yet to seal a place in the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
The 20-year-old played just one game during 2018 World Cup qualifying series, making his competitive debut in the 1-1 draw away at Algeria in October.
After a fantastic season with KAS Eupen, the forward was invited to the Super Eagles set-up and made his debut in a 3-0 win over Togo in a friendly game in June.
