Samsung announced the new Galaxy Note 8 on Thursday, August 24, 2017, with great optimism having endured months of damning criticisms due to the battery catastrophe that led to a complete recall and total cancellation of the Galaxy Note 7.

There are high expectations for this latest addition to the Galaxy line as the company is hopeful consumers would appreciate the Note’s features and that its signature stylus will convince phone users to give the brand another chance.

The Note 8 has a release date in stores for September 15, but it can be pre-ordered on all the major US carriers starting from Friday, August 25, 2017, while an unlocked model will be available at launch for the first time.

The new Note 8 has a striking resemblance to the Galaxy S8 Plus but just that the former comes with 6.3-inch screen unlike the latter which has a 6.2-inch screen. That makes it display slightly larger, corners more squared off, and less curvature to the front side edges.

Just like the Galaxy S8 released earlier this year, the Note 8 has a multi-point battery safety check. The S8 was Samsung's first attempt at a comeback and the biggest complaints about it have been about Bixby and some displays having a red tin. No batteries have burst into flames or exploded- unlike the Galaxy Note 7- so it's easy to conclude that the S8 has been a successful first phase of a rebound.
