The Louis Vuitton Eye Trunk iPhone case

For every regular items, there is most likely a ridiculously expensive iteration. Everybody is familiar with the Louis Vuitton brand. We all see ‘LV’ products in music videos, movies and on the wealthiest people in our society.

The luxury goods maker is taking a small detour (not for the first time) and branching into the world of phones. There is no ‘LV’ phone coming but you can now get a Louis Vuitton case for your iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

At the recently concluded Louis Vuitton Fashion Show, the company unveiled a slew of iPhone cases which it called the ‘Eye Trunk’. The line is supposed to be an hommage to the days when Louis Vuitton used to be a luggage maker.

The most eye-widening thing about these luxury phone cases is their price. They are so expensive, the costliest version can buy 7 brand new iPhones. They range from $1,180 (N366k) for an iPhone 7 case with a canvas back and traditional Louis Vuitton pattern to $5,500 (N1.7 million! Someone call Hushpopcorn!) for an iPhone 7 Plus-sized case with crocodile leather on it.

Yes, the phone cases have real crocodile leather, micro-fibre inlays and a key tag, but if you pay N1.7 million for a case, you better just leave it in a show-glass because if it scratches, tears may drop.

Besides, what kind of person even buys a phone case that is more expensive than their phone? If you can afford it, can you buy a N1.7 million phone case? Answer in the poll below.
