Leading bank now offers Western Union transactions via ATMs

The service does not require a GTB debit or credit card, neither does it require a security token device.

Leading Nigerian bank, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. (GTB) has introduced a new service that lets its customers receive Western Union funds directly into their GTB accounts through any of the banks ATMs in Nigeria.

To utilize the service, customer need only go any GTB ATM machine, press any key, click on the Western Union option, agree to the terms and conditions; select account type; select the country where the funds are sent from – if the country is not available, enter the country code/ISO code; enter the expected amount in Naira; enter the GTBank NUBAN account of the receiving party; and enter the 10-digit Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

Once the transaction is confirmed, the transfer amount will be credited into the receivers GTBank account.

According to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, the service does not require a GTB debit or credit card, neither does it require a security token device.

GTBank currently operates over 230 branches within Nigeria with subsidiaries in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Cote D’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom.
