Sales clerk denies saying N36m was swallowed by snake

Philomena Chieshe, the sales clerk who was reportedly suspended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), for alleging that a snake swallowed N36m.

Nigerians were awakened to the shocking news of in the Benue office of JAMB.

Reports say Chieshe also said that her housemaid connived with another staff member, Joan Asen, to “spiritually” steal the money, which was realised from sale of scratch cards, from the vault in the accounts office.

She was immediately suspended by the exam body, according to Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesman.

According to NAIJ, the sales clerk, in an interview with CNN, said that she is yet to be interrogated.

She also said "I did not say any money was swallowed by a snake. Nobody questioned me about that case. I am just a clerk and I serve under directors who are accounting officers. I wonder why they are personalizing the case.”

Sani said that he was concerned by the alleged theft and presented JAMB Registrar, ProfessorIshaq Oloyede, with anti-snake venom and two snake charmers to unravel the mystery.
