The Federal Government has come up with new methodologies and strategies to solve Nigeria's housing challenge.

Represented by the FCT Minister, Mr Muhammad Bello, the president stressed the need for these measures at the official opening of the 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Symposium of Shelter Afrique in Abuja.

"The problem of housing the urban poor is not entirely new and I believe that different efforts must have been deployed in the past to confront it.

Such reality, challenges us to re-assess our methodologies and evolve strategies to meet the exigencies of these times", he said.

One of these measures involves direct housing supply.

President Buhari said this would handle all the housing shortages in Nigeria's six geo-political zones.

The four-day event was themed, "Housing Africa’s Low Income Urban Population’’.
