Why do women remain in abusive relationships?

As much as it sounds absurd, a lot of women still remain in relationships where they are abused constantly. Here is what people thinks makes them stay.

No man should hit a woman for any reason, whatsoever (self defence an exception of course). Despite this belief and the stiff punishments many nations with women right activists, mete out to offenders, a lot of abusive relationships still exist.

A lot of women have shown they can tolerate  and even encourage this cruelty shown them by remaining in the relationship. This has created room for more cases of domestic violence even homicides, around the world.

Many things are responsible for a woman's stay in an abusive relationship. Some remain out of love, obsession or a masochistic satisfaction derived from being abused
