Lionel Messi and Angela Rocuzzo to be married on June 30 2017

The Argentine couple have been together for the past ten years and have two sons. They have now finally decided to take the big plunge together and as their day gets ever closer, here are seven things you should know about the ceremony.

1. Venue

The pair will be married on Friday, June 30 in their hometown of Rosario in the north of Argentina.

Guests are said to already have room reservations at the Hotel City-Center Casino, next to a crime-ridden slum run by drug gangs.

The civil wedding ceremony and after-party will take place inside the venue.

The Sun had earlier reported that the ceremony would hold at The Rosario Cathedral before recent reports now show otherwise.

2.The wedding gown

Roccuzzo, 29, will wear a dress by Spanish designer Rosa Clara, which has been specially flown over to Argentina from Spain.

While details about the dress remains unknown, Rosa Clara is known for her amazing dresses, having previously designed for stars such as Eva Longoria and Sofia Vergara, among others.

3. Shakira and other celeb guests

Shakira is said to be among the guests flying in for the ceremony, alongside her husband, Gerard Pique who is Messi’s Barcelona teammate.

It had been previously rumoured that the guest list will include about 600 persons but more recent reports say the couple have invited just 260 people.

The pair are among the expected 260 guests which includes other Barca stars, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

The groom-to-be, 30, has reportedly requested chefs to prepare local delicacies such as “locro” stew and “empanada” pasties for the party.

The star dish is a typical Argentine beef roast including chitterlings, gizzards and kidneys.

5. Music

While Shakira seems set to be the at the ceremony, it is unknown whether she will perform any of her world-famous music.

Latin pop bands, Rombai and Marama from Uruguay, and Karina, wife of Argentine footballer, Sergio Aguero, will perform at the dance.

6. Media coverage

Some 155 journalists have been accredited to cover the plush, extravagant bash.

7. A second ceremony?

It was rumoured months back that the couple plans to have a second ceremony in Barcelona as some of his teammates and numerous friends in Spain would not be able to make the 6,500-mile trip to Argentina for the first ceremony.

This is yet unconfirmed by either of the couple. Maybe after the first ceremony, they will.
