Scarlett & Jo, Von Ray Designs, GatsbyLady London and Remi Ray London are set to present their latest collections at the PFWAfrica 2017.
The debut edition set to hold at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos on 2nd September 2017 was created to highlight plus size models and apparels featuring runway shows, exhibitions, business masterclasses and skill acquisition amongst other activities lined up for the first ever edition.
The international brands join other brands to showcase their latest offerings at the fashion week. With a theme 'Celebrating the real African woman', the 2017 edition will attract over 20 designers who will take the stage and exhibition booths to showcase their latest designs and fashion pieces specifically made for the plus sized woman.
The Plus-size Fashion Week Africa was birthed out of the need to stop the stigmatisation and body shaming of the plus-sized woman; "we believe that every woman should be comfortable in her skin and body regardless of what the society thinks as long as they are healthy" a rep for the organizing team shares with Pulse.
A major highlight of the event is selecting a winner for 'Africa’s Next Plus-Size Model'. The search started on 1st of July, 2017. Successful participants at the auditions will grace the stage at the PFWAfrica and will also be signed, trained and developed by a renowned partner modelling agency who will give participants International exposure.
