Such is the damaging effect of sugar that it can also lead to obesity and other debilitating disorders such as diabetes type two and prostate cancer in men.

1. It causes heart disease

2. It causes erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get or maintain an erection firm enough for sex. And it is common in men who have diabetes, especially those with type 2 diabetes.

It can stem from damage to nerves and blood vessels caused by poor long-term blood sugar control.

Additionally, insulin which is produced as the result of a rise in sugar levels in the blood reduces the body's ability to make growth hormone (GH).

It alters testosterone levels and reduces libido.

3. It causes cancer

Statistics have it that cancer is fast becoming one of the leading causes of death around the world. And it is characterized by uncontrolled growth and multiplication of cells.

However, insulin has been shown to be one of the key hormones in regulating this sort of growth.

Owing to this, scientists and researchers are beginning to conclude that having a constantly elevated insulin level (a consequence of sugar consumption) can contribute to cancer.

4. It is bad for the teeth

Studies have shown that the longer you eat sugary foods or sip sugary drinks the more the chances of plaque bacteria to use the sugar to produce acids that attack your enamel, the hard surface of your tooth.

Cavities are a bacterial infection created by acids that cause your teeth to experience a hole in them.

This is why dentists would always advice people to keep away from carbonated soft drinks because they are bad for the teeth.

The effects of too much sugar or fructose and that of alcohol are similar in nature. All the fructose you eat gets shuttled to the only organ that has the transporter which is your liver.

And as result, the liver is severely taxes and overload, thus leading to potential liver damage.
