Nigerian entrepreneur receives MBE from Queen Elizabeth II

A Nigerian entrepreneur has been awarded one of the highest honors in the United Kingdom by Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II.

Chukwuemeka Chikezie getting his MBE from Queen Elizabeth

City People reports that Chikezie received the MBE, an award given by the Her Majesty The Queen, to an individual for outstanding service to the community or local hands-on service, at a ceremony at the Buckingham Palace on Friday, May 5, 2017.

Chikezie who is of dual Nigerian/Sierra Leonean origin was honoured for the work he has been doing with his foundation which has a mission to expand and enhance the contribution that Africans in the Diaspora to Africa’s development.

Chikezie was educated at an early primary school in Cheltenham, the UK, followed by later primary and secondary schools in Freetown.

His first two years of university were at FBC, Freetown, with the remainder at Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology, Northeast London Polytechnic, now the University of East London, the London College of Printing and Distributive Trades and City University.

He has worked as a consultant for several international development donor agencies around the world, engaging the Diaspora in the development and has commented widely on migration and development issues in the media and in public fora.

According to his rich profile, his first job was flipping burgers for MacDonald’s and working behind the bar at a seedy Cheltershire nightclub.
