Ghanaian Army officer lynched by mistake goes home on June 9

The young military officer who was lynched by a mob in Ghana after they mistook him for an armed robber will be buried on June 9.

According to reports from CitiFM Online, there will be three funerals for the 32-year-old slained soldier to be held at different locations in Accra, another in Bole, his paternal grandmother’s hometown in the Northern Region and the last one at Tumu, his paternal grandfather’s hometown in the Upper West Region.

It was an outflow of emotions at the family house of the late Captain Mahama as friends and family members gathered to mark one-week of his demise on Monday, June 5, 2017, as mourners could not hold back tears while eulogies were poured for the father of two young children.

A number of friends, as well as former government officials, were present to commiserate with the family of the late Captain whose father was also a retired Captain.

Captain Mahama who was a commander of the military detachment at Denkyira-Obuasi fighting illegal miners in the Central Region of Ghana was killed by a mob on Monday, May 29, 2017, after they mistook him for an armed robber while he went jogging early in the morning and stopped some women to ask for directions.

At least 42 persons have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the former army captain, with many others still on the run, according to the police.
