Female armed robbery gang leader arrested in Imo
The police in Imo State have arrested a notorious female armed robbery gang leader who had been on the run for many years.
South-East News reports that Okon and her gang had been responsible for many robberies that had been taking place in the state and other parts of the South Eastern Nigeria and had always escaped arrest for many years.
It was gathered that the gang had struck at a 7up depot in Orlu Local Government Area of the state and residents put a distress call to the police which raced to the scene and engaged the gang in a gun duel which lasted for several hours.
At the end of the gun battle, one of the robbers identified as Wee Wee, was shot dead while the gang leader, Okon, a 28-year-old indigene of Akwa Ibom State was captured alive while the other four managed to escape with bullet wounds.
According to the police, items recovered from the gang included one AK 47 rifle, ammunitions, a motorcycle and the sum of N193,980 in cash.
