A train has killed a 22-year-old Engineering student at a railway level crossing in India's Kanpur district.

Police say the accident happened on Saturday

The student, a resident of Unnao identified as Aditya, was run over while crossing the railway tracks according to a Mid-Day report.

The deceased’s friend, Sanjay Yadav told police that Aditya was on his way back from school at the time of the accident.

"Aditya was returning home from college last night, when he was hit by a train at the railway level crossing," Yadav said.

Police added that friends rushed him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
