5 tough questions Christians need to ask themselves in 2018

As we make our resolutions for 2018, it is important that we do not forget to ask the necessary questions.

As we do this, it is only fair that we ask ourselves the following tough but necessary questions;

Am I reading my Bible enough?

Studies have shown that not enough Christians are reading their Bibles. In 2018, we need to change this by first asking this question. If your answer is no, then you know you have to make this one of your resolutions.

‘Why?’, one might ask. Well, we can not really call ourselves of someone if we have no idea who they are. Without the Bible, not only do we not know who God is, we make ourselves vulnerable to believing anything anyone says.

Also, we really can not improve our spiritual lives without the scriptures. 2 Timothy 3:16–17, confirms this: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

As if this is not enough, Joshua 1:8 adds, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Do  I need to be a better Christian in 2018?

As we embark on a new year, it is only right that we do an evaluation of the previous one and decide to improve our faith in 2018.

Am I making God proud enough?

The parable of the talent teaches us that God has deposited something in all of us. It becomes our responsibility to decide if we are going to make Him proud by working with what we have or doing nothing like the servant with one talent. (See Matthew 25:14–3)

Do I need to work on my church attendance?

Going to church is one thing that a surprising number of Christians take for granted. Now, we have the perfect way out, thanks to the Internet and technology. In 2018, let us do better in this area, okay.

Should I improve my prayer life?

A lot of times, we tend to overcomplicate the things of God. We think that prayer is not something until it is an event. In 2018, let's take it back to the basis.

Prayer is an amazing gift from God. We get to talk to our Heavenly Father who actually wants to listen to us.

We need to make it our steering wheel, not a spare tire by fully taking advantage of this powerful tool of communication and constant source of strength, guidance, wisdom, joy and inner peace.

In the words of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, “The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive but in finding something to live for.”

As Christians and God’s children, it is not enough to just exist.

We have to do our best to ensure that we are living our best lives and we do this by first asking ourselves the tough questions.
