Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso gave his thoughts on his side's commanding 5-1 victory over Bournemouth in round six of the Premier League. The Londoners' boss was full of praise for the team's display and their control throughout the match.
"I wouldn't describe the match as crazy. There were different phases, but we controlled proceedings very well. After conceding, there were about ten minutes where our lead could have been reduced. However, that fourth goal proved crucial. We put in a solid performance and secured a great win," the Spanish manager said.
"During the international break, Jordan Henderson worked tirelessly on his free kicks. We saw how well Moisés Caicedo linked up with Hendo. Usually, when a team has great balance and a strong midfield, they produce their best football," Alonso explained.
Addressing the fact that his side have failed to keep a clean sheet since January, the manager remained unfazed: "That will come. Today we were very close to a clean sheet. A win without conceding will certainly come soon."
Alonso also weighed in on Cole Palmer signing a new deal with the club: "I'm delighted for Cole. He's an outstanding player and has been an integral part of our project for years. He has the potential to become one of those players supporters will remember for a very long time."
