Wimbledon Announces Record Prize Money for Players!

The third Grand Slam of the season will distribute a prize fund of €74 million! Last year, Poland's Iga Swiatek and Italy's Jannik Sinner each pocketed €3,511,800 for their victories.

Wimbledon has announced a substantial 20% increase in its total prize money, reaching an impressive £64.2 million, or over €74 million, for this year's edition. This boost represents an increase of more than €11.5 million compared to the approximately €62 million distributed last year.

The All England Club's decision comes amidst growing discontent from top tennis players regarding prize money. It's worth recalling that at Roland Garros, players took a firm stance in this dispute, limiting their media obligations to just 15 minutes before tournaments.

With this new figure, the men's and women's singles champions will each receive £3.6 million, an increase from last year's £3 million. This translates to €4.17 million! Even players eliminated in the first round, simply by qualifying for the main draw, are guaranteed almost €93,000.

This significant increase at Wimbledon, which matches last year's 20% growth at the US Open and surpasses this year's 16% at the Australian Open, is seen as a victory for the players, especially after the modest 9.5% rise at the French Major.
