Williams backs Wales' North to end try drought

George North will come good for Wales despite a five-month wait for an international try, says record try scorer Shane Williams.

Shane Williams has backed George North to end his five-game try-scoring drought as Wales look to build on their Six Nations draw with Ireland.

The Northampton Saints wing has failed to score since Wales' pre-Rugby World Cup friendly with Italy in September 2015.

North's club form has not been too impressive either, with only three tries for the Premiership side this season in all competitions.

"It happens to every player. He has got to work hard for it," Wales' record try scorer Williams told BBC Sport.

"He has not become a poor player. I have been there myself and we probably have not seen the best of George yet anyway.

"Sometimes you do get frustrated, but it is a sign of a player, how he overcomes that and continues to chip at it. It is all about your composure and just working hard, possibly not trying too hard."

Wales host Scotland in their second Six Nations match after a 16-16 draw in Ireland last weekend.
