Ndidi returns as Leicester City continue miraculous revival from relegation

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi played his first match in over one month on Saturday evening as Leicester City continued their rise in the English Premier League.

The Foxes bested Everton at Goodison Park by a 2-0 scoreline, with Brendan Rodgers' side having now won three (3) of their last four (4) games.

Super Eagles players were on parade on both sides of the aisle with Alex Iwobi turning out for Everton while Ndidi represented Leicester City.

Brimming with confidence from last week's slim 1-0 loss to Manchester City, Leicester City travelled to Merseyside looking to compound Everton's run of three (3) defeats in their last five (5) games.

The Rodgers-led side dominated Frank Lampard's side in the first half, outdoing the home side in every attacking metric from passes to shots on target.

Leicester City got the lead their performance deserved in the 45th minute after Youri Tielemans connected with James Maddison's assist to put the ball past Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.

The second half was a more balanced affair as Everton slightly edged ball possession (51%) but failed to convert their chances to goal-mouth opportunities with only one (1) shot on target from the Evertonians in the second half.

Harvey Barnes made sure of the three points for Leicester City with a goal in the 86th minute from another Maddison assist.

His brace of assists on Saturday takes Maddison into double figures for goal contribution this season with six (6) goals and four (4) assists now in the Englishman's name.

Nigeria's Alex Iwobi played the entirety of the match at Goodison Park but the 26-year-old's guile and work rate could not influence a positive result for Everton.

Iwobi put in an all-round performance, tallying 100% success on his three (3) long balls, as well as three (3) key passes, one (1) big chance created and three (3) shots in total. 

Defensively, the Super Eagles star won three (3) of the six (6) duels he contested, put in two (2) tackles, and made one (1) clearance to help the Everton cause.

Wilfred Ndidi's return to the Leicester City lineup was a muted one as the Nigerian midfield battler tallied one (1) clearance, tackle, and blocked shot each as well as one (1) successful duel.

Ndidi will hope to get more than the 20 minutes he was afforded on Saturday night when Leicester City take on Newport County in their 3rd round Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday, November 8.
