Why Some Real Players Will Be Frustrated: Mourinho Warns Before League Start: We All Must Defend

Real Madrid clinched the Champions League in 2024 with Bellingham and Vinícius as pivotal figures. However, despite Mbappé's arrival, the club hasn't secured a major trophy since. Mourinho, looking past tactical challenges, believes they form a compatible trio capable of delivering success.

"They are incredible players, and incredible players want to play with incredible players," Mourinho stated. He added that the tactical synergy between them would be more complex than under previous coaches, but he aims for all of them to feel comfortable on the pitch and for the season to be successful.

The Portuguese coach, however, clearly emphasized that he expects a defensive commitment from his star players. "We must defend with eleven players. If the opponent presses us, we all have to help in defense," Mourinho added.

During his second stint at Real, having previously managed from 2010 to 2013, Mourinho welcomes squad competition, which will lead to tough selection decisions. "It will be frustrating for some players who won't always make the starting lineup. They must learn to manage these moments individually and as a team," explained the 63-year-old coach.

Last season, Real Madrid not only struggled to win trophies but also faced an internal dispute between Aurélien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, which reportedly led to Valverde's hospitalization. Mourinho, however, insists that there is now complete calm and a friendly atmosphere within the team.

"I started from scratch; I didn't have to discuss it with Tchouameni. The players themselves told me it's not an issue between them, and it's as if nothing happened," Mourinho revealed.

The Portuguese coach is not lacking adrenaline ahead of his second debut at Real Madrid. "I would call it adrenaline, not pressure. It's a positive feeling. When I don't feel it, something is wrong," he concluded.
