Users of the popular instant communication app started experiencing connection issues in multiple countries just after 7 pm local time, disenabling them from sending and receiving messages.

Per The Verge, many users reported that WhatsApp service was stuck on “connecting” and from all indications, the messaging service appears to be experiencing a major outage globally.

Despite the disruption, users can still send messages but they will remain pending and delivered after WhatsApp is back online.

Meanwhile, other Meta services, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads are not showing issues on the status page, but many people experienced difficulty trying to view recent posts or create new posts on the services.

This is coming just weeks after an over two-hour outage hit Meta, locking users out of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads, with WhatsApp unaffected.

The messaging app with over two billion users is rarely affected by outages, with the last major WhatsApp outage in 2022 taking the service offline for two hours.
