New features could be coming to the most used instant messaging service in the world
From what is making the rounds in tech media, WhatsApp, the world's most used instant messaging platform, could be getting some new features real soon.
According to leaks from German site Macerkopf, a set of new features in the iOS beta app include larger emoji's, music sharing, mentions, and public groups.
At Apple'sWWDC keynote last month, the tech giant introduced larger emoji's to its iMessage app along with iOS 10 and it seems that WhatsApp is looking to leverage on this.
The mentions feature is something that seems interesting though. If you are familiar with Twitter, you should already have a sense of how it will work. You will be able to tag contacts in chats and group messages.
According to Innovation Village, the public group feature will give anyone with a link to the group the ability to post to it.
In recent months, there have been more rumors about WhatsApp's supposed video calling feature. Last week, the company announced that 100 million calls were being made on the platform every day, so that rumor may prove to be true sooner than later.
