The last time WhatsApp released numbers for its monthly user count, it was one zero shy of where it is now – 1 billion.
The messaging app announced on its blog that it now has 1 billion monthly active users and it shows no signs of slowing down.
According to the statement, that’s almost one in every seven people on the face of the Earth who use the $19 billion messaging app, which is owned by Facebook.
The announcement also promised improvements in speed and security, while still aiming to get the remaining six billion people in the world to use the platform.
If the company had not dropped its $1 a year subscription fee, that could have been $1 billion in revenue for a company that has just 57 engineers. We all know how cool that much money is.
