Former Arsenal manager and current FIFA official, Arsène Wenger, believes Germany's footballing woes run deeper than just who is coaching the national team, following their third consecutive early exit from a men's World Cup.

The Frenchman, who serves as FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, stated during a live TikTok broadcast hosted by 2014 German World Cup winner Toni Kroos, that Jürgen Klopp would be the right choice for the next national team coach.

"But I'm not sure if that changes everything. Germany has bigger problems," he added, addressing Kroos.

Julian Nagelsmann resigned after Germany's round of 16 elimination by Paraguay, prompting Wenger to comment: "I don't think he made major mistakes in this tournament. Currently, the German team is missing something – in this tournament, you could see how important a true goalscorer is. Germany needed a player who scores in decisive moments, like Harry Kane for England. But that's not present in Germany right now."

"Good players need a great coach. And good coaches need good players. You need both together," Wenger concluded.
