The 22-year-old Frenchman continues to follow the League's concussion protocol after falling and hitting his head in the second game, forcing him to leave the court definitively in the second quarter.

Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson did not confirm Wembanyama's participation in Game 3 but insisted that the team's star is "making progress" and that the team has not ruled him out.

"He looks good. The news is that he's following all protocols, making progress, and will travel with the team. As far as I know, we haven't discussed ruling him out. That's the protocol. It's all up to the League. We just hope he continues to improve. When the time comes, then. We'll just keep following the protocol and hope it continues this way. Things are clear. Obviously, it's best for him to return soon, but we'll let the protocol be followed. Nothing is more important than his health," Johnson stated, as quoted by ESPN.

According to the NBA's concussion protocol, a player cannot participate in games within the first 48 hours after an injury but can gradually resume activities after 24 hours, provided symptoms do not worsen. The player must then meet several requirements before being cleared to play.

On Monday, Victor Wembanyama was named Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player to win the award unanimously.

The series between San Antonio and Portland is tied at 1-1 before the Spurs' two road games in Oregon.
