The Oklahoma City Thunder kicked off the new NBA season in style, securing a 116-104 road victory over the San Antonio Spurs. The clash served as a rematch of Game 7 of last season's Western Conference Finals on May 30, when the Spurs claimed a 111-103 win in Oklahoma City to end the Thunder's title defense.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with a 32-point performance, backed by a lethal shooting display from Jared McCain, who added 20 points while knocking down six of his eight attempts from beyond the arc.

However, the play of the night belonged to rookie Aday Mara. The 7-foot-3, 21-year-old Spaniard went viral in his debut after rejecting Victor Wembanyama at the rim on a dunk attempt, before running the floor to finish an alley-oop on the ensuing fast break.

It was a night to forget offensively for Wembanyama. The French center was held to 12 points on a dismal 1-of-13 shooting from the field, with his only made basket coming on a pass from De’Aaron Fox at the third-quarter buzzer.

The Thunder took control after the opening five minutes and held the lead all the way through to the final buzzer.
