The Council announced development this at its 56th Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria National Committee in Calabar on Thursday, November 22, 2018.

While speaking at the meeting, the committee chairman, Dr Lami Amodu said the technology enables the exam body to achieve 100 % migration from paper-based to electronic-based enrolment, Punch reports.

“Nigeria National Office, in particular, has adopted Information and Communication Technology to improve its service delivery. These, among others, include the online registration of both school and private candidates for WASSCE.

''This development has enabled the council to achieve 100 per cent migration from paper-based to electronic-based enrolment for candidates. It has also aided the deployment of Quick Response Code on our certificates, thereby making it impossible to falsify certificates issued by the council,” she said.

WAEC awards 3 girls as best students in Nigeria

Recall that WAEC at the NEC meeting also awarded three girls as overall bets students in Nigeria.

According to Daily Trust, the exam body awarded 18-year-old, Isabella Gelegu from Esan North LGA of Delta State of Oritamefa Baptist Model School Ibadan the 1st prize National Distinction/Merit Award 2017.

The Council also reportedly awarded two other girls, Favour Ngozi Etuonuma of Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model a college Ilorin and Adenike Temitope Adedara of Louisville Girls High School Ijebu Itele Ogun State as 2nd and 3rd prizes of the same National Distinction Merit Award respectively.
