Swedish carmaker shows off its smallest car lineup, the 40 series [VIDEO]

This concept focuses on highlighting the sharp lines and innovative design elements in small cars, The Verge reports.

In a recent statement, the Volvo's head of design, Thomas Ingenlath, said: "they have an energy, a disruptive and engaging urban character that makes them stand out amongst the crowd. This is the flavor of small Volvos to come."

The series will have pure-electric and plug-in hybrid variants.

The first 40 series car should go into production in 2017.
