Enyeama quit the Super Eagles in October 2015 after falling out with the coach Sunday Oliseh but Gernot Rohr has revealed that the goalkeeper will play for Nigeria again when he returns from injury.

Rohr who has been very vocal about wanting Enyeama since he became Super Eagles boss revealed that goalkeeper and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were not seeing eye to eye when he first came.

“The true position is that I have a good relationship with Enyeama and he has a problem with the Federation (NFF) before I came on board as coach, and when I called him and he said there’s a problem with the Federation, I cannot come at the moment,” Rohr told Own Goal Nigeria.

“I tried to call him again and now I call him again,‎ he asked to take some leave for his injury. I think the situation is a little bit different, some players who don’t want to play for their national team can change their mind.”

Rohr now believes that Enyeama is ready to return to the Super Eagles when he recovers from injury and sort out his club situation.

“He cannot play at the moment at his club, he must be fit first and also find another club then hopefully he will be motivated to come back to the national team,” Rohr said.

In Enyeama’s absence, Carl Ikeme became Super Eagles number one goal with the likes of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi as deputies.
