Max Verstappen secured his milestone 50th career pole position during qualifying for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.
The Dutch driver will start from the front of the grid at the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the first time in his career after edging out Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by a mere 0.054 seconds. With this achievement, Verstappen ticked off yet another venue from the short list of circuits where he had never previously taken pole.
Reaching the landmark of 50 pole positions in what is his 250th Grand Prix start makes Verstappen only the fifth driver in the history of the sport to achieve the feat.
The leaders in this prestigious ranking—Lewis Hamilton (104), Michael Schumacher (68), Ayrton Senna (65), Sebastian Vettel (57), and Max Verstappen (50)—have claimed a combined 344 pole positions across the 1,166 races held to date, representing a remarkable 29.50% of all qualifying sessions in Formula 1 history.
Following his triumph at Marina Bay, the only circuits where the Dutchman has yet to claim pole are Hockenheim, Istanbul Park, Madrid, Mugello, the Nürburgring, Portimão, and Sochi. He will have an opportunity to rewrite part of that record, with Istanbul, Madrid, and Portimão featuring on the 2027 race calendar.
