The Jamaican, who battled a hamstring injury ahead of the Olympics, is certainly not alone in skipping Friday's event.

Bolt announced he would be absent via Snapchat, while his team also confirmed he would miss.

The 29-year-old has plenty of time ahead of defending his 100 metre title, with the event to be held on August 13-14.

A six-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder in the 100m, Bolt is favourite to win it again despite his recent injury worries.
