The Olympic sprint superstar has had an injury-ravaged season - with his fitness problems leading him to ditch the individual races at the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he anchored the Jamaican 4x100m relay team to gold.

However, he showed little sign of rustiness in Rio de Janeiro as he won in 10.06 seconds.

Bolt eased to victory in a race that also included Mark Lewis-Francis of Great Britain, Jefferson Liberato Lucindo of Brazil and Wallace Spearmon of the United States.

The 27-year-old had predicted a sub-10 second time in the build up but says he will now target that feat when he races in Poland and then in the Diamond League meet in Zurich later this month.
