Union says millions more Syrians could head to Europe

"There could be millions and millions more refugees leaving Syria and ultimately (going) to the European Union and beyond," he said, adding that almost 8 million people were displaced within Syria.

European countries have taken in waves of migrants fleeing violence. Germany allowed 20,000 migrants into the country over the weekend and is preparing for 800,000 this year.
