Mario Balotelli was the right man to take the penalty against Besiktas – Jamie Carragher

Henderson stepped up to take the kick after Jordon Ibe was fouled but Balotelli snatched the ball from him, and converting the kick to give Liverpool the lead with less than 10 minutes to go.

A former immediate captain of the club, Jamie Carragher salutes Balotelli for his brave action.

He wrote on twitter: ‘Pressure pen late in a big European game you want your best man on it. Balotelli was that man!’

Boss, Brendan Rodgers did not seem bothered who was to take the kick.
