Marc-André ter Stegen's loan move to Ajax is back on track. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has presented a new counter-proposal to the German goalkeeper to resolve the fiscal discrepancies that were holding up the transfer, an initiative the 34-year-old is now reportedly receptive to.

The deal, which seemed all but done ten days ago, hit a snag due to tax issues concerning the player's salary distribution. Initially, the shot-stopper was unconvinced by the tax implications of certain payments, but he now appears to accept the new terms proposed by the Catalan club to facilitate his departure.

The Amsterdam club will not even cover two million euros of Ter Stegen's salary, whose contract with the Blaugrana runs until 2028. The Spanish champions will bear the larger portion, though the exact amount is not fixed and will depend on the number of games the goalkeeper plays. This condition was a demand from the Dutch club, wary after Girona's experience of paying a full share of a loaned player's salary only for him to feature in just two games due to injury.

The complexity of the three-way operation caught Barcelona by surprise. Last week, the club shifted from an optimistic stance to admitting the impasse rested solely with the player. However, facing continued difficulties, the club intervened to adjust figures and prevent further delays.

At Ajax, the situation has been met with some bewilderment. The Dutch club believes everything was agreed upon and finds the delay in formalizing the documents inexplicable. While no final deadline has been set, patience is not limitless, and the Amsterdam giants are considering all scenarios, including the cancellation of the transfer.

Meanwhile, Ter Stegen has remained silent, training regularly under Hansi Flick at Ciutat Esportiva.
