Transfer Market: Barcelona announces goalkeeper... who might already be on his way out
Barcelona officially announced on Thursday the signing of Dominik Livakovic, the Croatian goalkeeper, who has penned a four-year contract. The deal with Fenerbahçe could cost the Catalan club four million euros, split into two million fixed and another two million in performance-based add-ons.
Although the announcement was initially slated for Wednesday, the official confirmation was delayed due to hold-ups in receiving final documentation from the Turkish side. With the bureaucracy now resolved, the 31-year-old shot-stopper was finally unveiled as a Barcelona player.
However, the immediate future of the experienced goalkeeper at the Blaugrana remains uncertain. The question now is whether Livakovic will integrate into the squad as a backup to Joan García or if he will be loaned out, pending Szczesny completing his final year of contract.
With extensive experience and standout performances for the Croatian national team, Livakovic is a well-established name in European football. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will opt to keep him in the squad or seek a loan solution, with Dinamo Zagreb being touted as the most probable destination.
