Trackhouse Aprilia MotoGP team principal Davide Brivio has pointed the finger at Marc Marquez for the Turn 1 melee in the Indonesian sprint race earlier today.
The incident occurred after Raul Fernandez, Marco Bezzecchi, Marquez, and Fabio Di Giannantonio went into the opening corner four-wide, with Di Giannantonio on the inside line and Fernandez on the far outside. On corner exit, Marquez was forced to pick up his bike to avoid hitting Di Giannantonio, sparking a chain reaction.
Bezzecchi shut the throttle in response, but Fernandez had no time to react and collided with the factory Aprilia rider. Both crashed out on the spot at Turn 1, while Marquez and Di Giannantonio continued on to finish first and third, respectively.
"It's difficult. At first glance, it seems Jorge [Martin] and Marc were very aggressive. They wanted to make up as many places as possible, and that was the result because they were too aggressive towards the others. They went over the limit into Turn 1, but I'm not surprised," Brivio explained in an interview during the sprint race.
